REVELATIONS

My photographic work shows sex workers as god-like figures situated within the framework of high-art to pay the respect owed to them. Sex work includes, but is not limited to, full-service sex workers, strippers, dominatrixes, cam-models, phone sex operators, and adult actresses/actors. Inspired by the intertwining of religion and art, my work plunges into the divine power of female sexuality. My works demands the viewer to question their own judgements surrounding sex work, challenging the Madonna-Whore Dichotomy that is born from the prevailing cultural whorephobia built into our society. This dichotomy is a dividing structure in which a woman must be righteous and virtuous, or promiscuous and unchaste. According to this construct, sex workers fall into the latter category, therefore making them deserving of the harm that comes to them.
